What took me so long to bring the electric keyboard to the classroom? It's been collecting dust for years in the basement. We finally took it out last week and it has received a ton of love from the children. Do I have to constantly turn the volume back down to a reasonable level? Yes. Worth the noise? Totally.
The children get to explore rhythms, volume, pitch, cause and effect, and get lots of social time with one another. Plus, we've listened to "Flight of the Bumblebee" (by request of the children of course) so many times that even I'm inspired to get my hands on the keys.
Guada has also plays some great little jigs during circle time to get the kids up and dancing. What a treat!
